Im dichten Amazonas-Regenwald des brasilianischen Bundesstaates Acre gibt es viele Stämme. Auch heute noch gibt es Stämme, die keinen Kontakt aufgenommen haben. Sie jagen mit Pfeil und Bogen, versteckt in ihrem alten Lebensraum und leben noch in der Steinzeit.

There are around 13 contacted tribes in Acre. The Huni Kuin or Kaxinawá are the biggest, with close to 15,000 members. They live in four regions of the state: Humaita, Breu, Tarauacá and Jordão. Jordão, where our attention will go, is days into the forest. Either you fly in a small plane, or travel close to a week by boat going upriver. It is a beautiful region where the indigenous people live deep in the forest in their aldeias, or villages.

Vor vielen Jahren kamen einige Huni Kuin aus der Region aus dem Wald und brachten ihre Kultur und Spiritualität in die Welt. Es waren Sueiro Sales Bane und sein noch junger Sohn, Siã Sales. Siã ist heute wahrscheinlich der angesehenste Häuptling der Huni Kuin. Sueiro war ein Pajé oder Medizinmann der alten Schule, wie es sie heute nur noch selten gibt. Er war ein politischer und spiritueller Führer seines Volkes.

Sueiro war ein Mann mit einem enormen Wissen über die Medizin und die Geheimnisse des Waldes und wurde für seine Führungsqualitäten sehr respektiert. Sie gehörten zu den allerersten, die ihr Nixipã (Ayahuasca) und Rapé in die Welt hinaus trugen.

Siã was still young when he started to travel with his father. He used to register many things on video and even filmed the famous rubber tapper and one of the first environmentalists Chico Mendes. Siã still travels around the world to spread the knowledge of his people, the healing power of their medicines, to defend his beloved forest and the rights of his people.
