A Sacred Channel for Ceremonial Rapé Sharing
The Teté Pawã Tepi is a ceremonial blowpipe designed for sharing Rapé (Hapé) in traditional Amazonian ritual settings. Named after the sacred Harpy Eagle—Teté Pawã in the Pano language—it embodies ancestral vision, spiritual strength, and focused clarity
Handcrafted at the remote Teté Pawã Arts & Medicines studio along the upper Juruá River, each piece is shaped by skilled artisans from the Kuntanawa community using bamboo, resin, natural seeds, wax string wrap, and tribal bead or pyrographic motifs
Features & Sacred Significance
Heartfelt Artisan Craft: Created by indigenous hands in a setting reached only by multi-day river or small airplane journey, each Tepi is infused with ancestral purpose
Impactful Engineering: The bamboo design includes a three‑step taper, enabling a clean and powerful blow for ceremonial precision
Symbolic Embellishment: Decorated with forest seeds, stones, and indigenous motifs, it carries deep tribal aesthetics and cultural respect
Portable & Sacred: Compact and lightweight, it connects giver and receiver in close ceremonial exchange, reinforcing spiritual intimacy
This tool supports ceremonial use by offering intentional blow delivery, grounded focus, and connection to sacred ceremonial lineage.
Ritual Use
In ritual, the giver gently loads the Tepi with Rapé and positions one end in the recipient’s nostril. With a focused breath, powdered medicine is shared. This act is sacred, honoring intention, connection, and healing through ceremonial precision
