The Shawãdawa live on the upper Jurua River and after many years of struggle have managed to have their land demarcated. They are also known as the Arara tribe.
Today the main objective of the Shawã people is to protect the forest where all their natural medicines are present. They were once considered folk of war, and only later did they begin to remember and rediscover their great generosity and lovingness. Today they are recognized as open-minded and friendly, willingly sharing what they have with the outside world.
The Rapé of the Shawãdawa is made by a young member of the tribe, and despite his youthfulness he is a highly regarded member among them.
Traditionally they are prepared under the power of the full moon.
