Sage Extracts – Caapi TPA
Caapi, or Banisteriopsis caapi, is a vine from the Amazon region with a very special status. Common names like ‘vine of the soul,’ ‘the umbilical cord’ or ‘the mother’ emphasize the entheogenic uses of Caapi. For a long time, this plant has been used in spiritual and religious rituals to gain insight into oneself, the causes of one’s suffering, and to find clarity to navigate life’s difficult questions.
Although Caapi is known as an ingredient in the famous Ayahuasca concoction used for religious purposes, the mechanism of operation of the Caapi vine is often overlooked. In itself, Caapi does not contain hallucinogenic components, but it is used in combination with hallucinogenic plants like P. viridis to be orally active.
Ingredients
Extract of Banisteriopsis caapi in alcohol, 20%. Other technical additives or processing aids: none.
We only sell the purified extract of the Caapi vine itself and not the leaves. The primary active ingredients of this part of B. caapi are harmala alkaloids: harmine, harmaline and tetrahydroharmine.
Recommended Dosage
Caapi may be taken as a dietary supplement. The recommended dosage for Caapi is 1 to 3 drops up to three times a day under the tongue or in a glass of water. Do not take for extended periods of time. This is a very powerful extract with only a few drops having a noticeable effect.
WARNING
Caapi acts as a natural monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) and therefore should not be used in combination with other anti-depressants (including other MAOIs and SSRIs), tricyclics, MDMA, meperidine, tramadol, dextromethorphan, anxyolitics (anti-anxiety drugs), blood pressure reducers, medication for ADHD, epinephrine, cold medicines, and other substances that can lead to side effects when taken with a MAOI like Caapi. Also avoid dietary supplements that contain compounds that can interact with Caapi, such as St. John’s wort, Syrian rue, tyramine, tryptophan, tobacco, animal liver, fermented substances such as alcoholic beverages, aged cheeses, coffee, chocolate, etc. Consult your doctor before taking Caapi if you are in doubt about whether Caapi may negatively interact with other substances you are consuming.
